Bursary Helps School Build New Outdoor Classroom

Wooton-on-Woodstock Primary School has created a brand new outdoor learning area and additional storage facilities with the help of a grant from our Charitable Bursary.

Blenheim's £4,500 contribution has enabled the school to install an outdoor Early Years learning facility, with built-in sandpit, as well as separate storage units.

The bursary was requested by The Friends of Wootton-by-Woodstock School, a fundraising group run by parents with the purpose of providing resources and advancing the education of the pupils at the school.

“We would like to thank Blenheim for the generous donation, it means so much to have this support,” said Rebecca Elliott, Project Co-ordinator, The Friends of Wootton School.

“The children and staff at the school are delighted and it will make a real difference to the children’s educational experience, and that of future pupils too,” she added.

The new facilities have significantly improved the scope for more outdoor activities and learning for the school’s Reception class as well as providing much-needed storage for trikes and bikes.

“We’re delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile and thoughtful project that will significantly improve the learning opportunities for children and make such clever use of the outdoor space,” said Samantha Vaughan, our Marketing Manager.

Wootton-by-Woodstock School was founded early in the 19th century and still occupies its original location right in the centre of the village close to the village shop and St. Mary's Church, with which it is closely affiliated.

Blenheim's £50,000 bursary is available to all charities and organisations based within a 20-mile radius of Blenheim.

Following consultation with the local community, and in conjunction with the launch of our Land Strategy, it was agreed grants will focus on six main areas; wellbeing and outdoor activities, education, creation of green spaces, supporting community infrastructure, communal projects and charity work utilising outdoor spaces.

The bursary scheme is part of Blenheim's ongoing commitment to more than double their charitable contributions to the community within 10 years.
